Easy Downloading
I did a google search and found a good" link ", When you give the URL of the file that you want to download it download the files for you but those video files can not be play in your Media player. Nothing to worry here comes our opensource friends to help with a nice player call VLC. Now no worries.
Professinalism
Today morning while I was coming to my room I met our Head of Engineering (HOE), he was in a bit of a hurry but told that they are going to do partition our IT room and the workers will start work within the next hour. I was astonished to hear that, because I didn’t know what are they going to do there or how they are going to do partition our room. Since Head of Engineering told me to speak to the Financial Controller, who is his boss and second to the GM to get more details.
Immediately I spoke to FC and he said HOE has the plan thus he has better idea than him so to speak to him. Finally we manage to bring both together FC & HOE with another Engineer who is doing this project. Finally both showed me how they have planned to do the partitioning. First important thing to note, none of these high rank people have informed this sudden change to the Head of IT (HIT). IT is a very important department in any office and we have 8-9 servers running here plus around 150 users and these Heads are trying to do the modification to the IT department with out the knowledge of the IT Head.
First place we thought that HIT is aware about this matter coz this has been passed by GM, and FC, HOE and others are aware about the change. While we talk with them we understood that this decision is not been informed to Head of IT. Since the HIT was not in our office I took a call to HIT and she wanted to talk to FC or HOE, FC was not there therefore I gave the phone to Head of Engineering and he refused to answer the phone saying he is just executing the task and decision making is not his duty. I forgot to mention that so called Head of Engineering is an AGM (Assistant General Manager - Engineering).
In the presence of FC, and HOE (AGM) when we raise the question whether they have informed this problem to Head of IT, they just nodded their heads and said will do..!! They are going to do the job now thereafter going to inform the relevant authority later. Is this the right thing to do..? Is this the way a top class Financial Controller and Assistant General Manager work?
What is the professionalism that these people have..? Top management is saying that they are just an executer and passing the ball to other people when questions are raised.

What is HSDPA ?
HSDPA, short for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access, is a new protocol for mobile telephone data transmission. It is known as a 3.5G (G stands for generation) technology. Essentially, the standard will provide download speeds on a mobile phone equivalent to an ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) line in a home, removing any limitations placed on the use of your phone by a slow connection. It is an evolution and improvement on W-CDMA, or Wideband Code Division Multiple Access, a 3G protocol. HSPDA improves the data transfer rate by a factor of at least five over W-CDMA. HSDPA can achieve theoretical data transmission speeds of 8-10 (megabits per second). Though any data can be transmitted, applications with high data demands such as video and streaming music are the focus of HSDPA.
HSDPA improves on W-CD MA by using different techniques for modulation and coding. It creates a new channel within W-CDMA called HS-DSCH, or high-speed downlink shared channel. That channel performs differently than other channels and allows for faster downlink speeds. It is important to note that the channel is only used for downlink. That means that data is sent from the source to the phone. It isn't possible to send data from the phone to a source using HSDPA. The channel is shared between all users which lets the radio signals to be used most effectively for the fastest downloads.

What happened to a Net Admin..
1. Maintain the existing network infrastructure, evaluate, and recommend new technology to implement.
2. Maintenance and troubleshoot CISCO router, 2 ADSL connection and Windows 2000 server / workstation.
3. Introduce new technology to enhance productivity.
And there were some more IT related stuff. (You know all the rubbish you get in your Appointment Letter.: P) I work very coolly dooly for sometimes and had much spare time for myself.
New involvement after few months after joining;
1. Inspecting and estimating damage containers (ISO standard)
2. Lead the Operation of the container yard.
3. Train the staff
4. Set standard and procedures
5. Discuss /negotiate with our main Shipping line regarding IT / Operational issues
6. Follow up container repair (ISO standard)
7. Invoicing
This helped me to understand another industry (Container Depot / Shipping) which I didn’t have a clue. :)
