Map of Colombo

I'm living in Colombo since 2001 and I have lost in this city countless times. I can remember sometimes I used to keep a small map in my wallet when I roam around Colombo. One day I wanted to find Park Street and I found all the lanes, avenues …etc, which start with “Park” in front, but not the exact place I wanted. So I thought to publish this link, which I found one of my friend’s blog site.

Who is innocent..Human or Aminals?

Who is going to kill a mother?? This is seems to be a never-ending battle between human and animals. Some would argue that animals are created for human’s need, which shows how cruel they are. These innocent creatures are harmless and live a peaceful life in their territory. (Jungle)

Human population grow rapidly and that doesn’t mean you have to take away some innocents lives, coz every one has same rights for life.

This is another end of a pregnant elephant. Negligence of wildlife officers led to the death of this pregnant cow elephant in Vanathavilluwa as they failed to attend to her for ten days after it was shot by a group of hena cultivators. Some villagers fed it while others had cut a part of its tail to get hair.

Few words while doing the exam :)

If you know how did I find some time to make this blog definitely you will laugh at me. I did an exam today and I was able to finish that before the time that was supposed to finished, so I took that as an opportunity to add few words to my blog.

You know its not worthy to talk about office work, its that much disappointing. I have been trying hard to talk to my boss coz I want to ask for salary increment. ;) But, since then that idea came to me, I could not talk to him neither I see him.

Last week four of us (Mahasen, NC, charmini) got together after few months and had a good time. NC has got a job recently and now he is staying with Mahasen for the time being.

Most of the time I spend Sundays by watching movies, now that has become bad habit, even during the weekdays I started watching movies. I very much enjoy watching Tony Jaa’s movies

Hacker or Cracker

As I can remember last Friday I was bit free from my office work and wondering what to do..?? Finally I thought to browse the net, then the next question pop up… what’s the topic..???? I tried "hacking". I wanted to read some articles about 'how to become a hacker'. My main intention was to intrude someone’s PC or a network. Google search gave some useful links and I read few articles of that. But one article catched my attention than others, that article is totaly different from the other links and I thought to add that to my blog.

I started reading the content of that article and it changed my mind about hackers (real hackers). Mostly what we call “crackers” as hackers. We think people who have excellent knowledge about programming and networking can turn into hackers. Everyday we see and hear some news about hacker attacks to many organizations and the destruction that they have caused.

How can we call them, hackers or crackers? read this http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/hacker-howto.html

1GB Kingston MMC

I purchased 1GB Kingston MMC Mobile for my new Nokia 6230i. Before I purchased, I asked from few of my friends who are using 1GB MMCs on their Nokia 6230i. Nokia does not recommend using 1GB MMCs, but as my friends said their MMCs are working without causing havoc. But unfortunately my Kingston MMC Mobile started to give me headache. These are the problems,

· Suddenly MMCs name changed to “Memory Card” (Normally it appeared as Kingston)
· Can not open any of the folders in MMC
· Size of the MMC showed as 0.0 kb
· Phone gets very slow. (Access time is long)

I thought to format the MMC and see whether it can solve these problems. :(

iPod causes hearing loss !!!

SAN FRANCISCO - A Louisiana man claims in a lawsuit that Apple's iPod music player can cause hearing loss in people who use it.

Apple has sold more than 42 million of the devices since they went on sale in 2001, including 14 million in the fourth quarter last year. The devices can produce sounds of more than 115 decibels, a volume that can damage the hearing of a person exposed to the sound for more than 28 seconds per day, according to the complaint.

The iPod players are "inherently defective in design and are not sufficiently adorned with adequate warnings regarding the likelihood of hearing loss," according to the complaint, filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in San Jose, Calif., on behalf of John Kiel Patterson of Louisiana.

The suit, which Patterson wants certified as a class-action, seeks compensation for unspecified damages and upgrades that will make iPods safer. Patterson's suit said he bought an iPod last year, but does not specify whether he suffered hearing loss from the device.

Patterson does not know if the device has damaged his hearing, said his attorney, Steve W. Berman, of Seattle. But that's beside the point of the lawsuit, which takes issue with the potential the iPod has to cause irreparable hearing loss, Berman said.

"He's bought a product which is not safe to use as currently sold on the market," Berman said. "He's paying for a product that's defective, and the law is pretty clear that if someone sold you a defective product they have a duty to repair it."

An Apple Computer Inc. spokeswoman, Kristin Huguet, declined to comment.
Although the iPod is more popular than other types of portable music players, its ability to cause noise-induced hearing isn't any higher, experts said.

"We have numerous products in the marketplace that have the potential to damage hearing," said Deanna Meinke, an audiology professor at the University of Northern Colorado. "The risk is there but the risk lies with the user and where they set the volume."

The Cupertino-based company ships a warning with each iPod that cautions "permanent hearing loss may occur if earphones or headphones are used at high volume."

Apple was forced to pull the iPod from store shelves in France and upgrade software on the device to limit sound to 100 decibels, but has not followed suit in the United States, according to the complaint. The headphones commonly referred to as ear buds, which ship with the iPod, also contribute to noise-induced hearing loss because they do not dilute the sound entering the ear and are closer to the ear canal than other sound sources, the complaint states.
